Learn strategically and not randomly
You can learn anything, but you can’t learn everything.
Less is better, the more you know what to learn the more you do a great work and get the right thing done. Only few things are matter .
It is not about the quantity of your knowledge, it is about the quality and the strategic alignment.
Learning a lot is important but more learning doesn’t yield more results. Less strategic learning does.
How to learn strategically
How you learn is more important than what you learn.
First, you should distinguish the few vital and impact full things to learn from the trivial many.
Pick your subject with a sense of purpose and based on what the world now need.
Then start to ask these questions to filter learnings.
1- Does your learning line up with your goals?
If yes, prioritize this topic and start learn it.
If not, remove it from your learning plan.
2- Will it lead to fresh insights or deeper understanding?
Some topics are related to what you would like to learn, but they will only repeat what you know. Try to focus on the most insightful materials that can give you fresh ideas, perspectives and deepen your understanding.
Remember the Pareto law only 20% of the learning material will drive you to understand 80% of the topic that you would like to learn.
When you know how to learn, you start to use intelligently your time, save time and be more impactful and end up by making progress on what’s matter to your goal and purpose.
Conclusion
We are looking at the highest level of contribution through our leanings, the right way at the right time.
By not choosing what to learn, you end up by default by learning everything without making any impact, by losing your time and energy.
You need to learn strategically and not randomly. Once you decide on what to learn — the thing/topic that it is aligned to your goals and purpose — you will find a plenty of time to learn everything you need to know about that thing/ topic.
You cannot overestimate the unimportance of practically learning everything. ― John Maxwell
